Lock Notes Inside a Folder

Build the closest native equivalent to a locked Notes folder without assuming the folder itself is protected.

Practical workflow

Create or choose a Notes folder, move the relevant notes into it, and apply the lock to every eligible note one by one. The folder remains visible and unlocked as an organizer.

Five careful steps

  1. Create a dedicated folder with a name that does not reveal sensitive details.
  2. Move only the notes that belong in this collection.
  3. Open each eligible note, use the note actions menu, and choose Lock.
  4. Confirm every protected note shows the lock state, then close Notes.
  5. Reopen the folder and test access before relying on the setup.

Audit the folder after changes

New notes added later are not automatically locked. Treat the folder as an organizing checklist: every new sensitive note needs its own lock.
